2026 First Flush: Spring's First Light in a Cup
We are excited to bring you this year’s first spring Darjeeling leaves from Margaret’s Hope Tea Estate, arguably one of the most famous and romantic tea estates in Darjeeling. Located at 3,100-6,000 feet in West Bengal, India, nestled in the Himalayas, this tea garden’s mist covered slopes offer a unique climate and terrain which shape the tea’s distinctive character and flavor profile.

Unfurling into existence among the orchid covered slopes and flowing rivers of Margaret's Hope Tea Estate, this first flush reveals a light amber-golden cup, brimming with soft floral notes and a whisper of almond. Hints of tropical fruit perfect the lively, yet elegant, crisp finish. Plucking date: March 26, 2026.

We have air-freighted this hand-plucked Darjeeling to ensure the freshest cup possible. Regarded as the ultimate tea experience, only limited quantities are available. Enjoy, Sip by Sip®.

Additional Details:
Lovers of the leaf, rejoice! The dormancy period is over and the Darjeeling hillsides are radiant with young, fragrant leaves.

This artwork titled Openness was created by McKinley Forbes, age 13, in watercolor. Each dot represents an individual tea bush coming together to be part of a bigger picture. The scene has the feeling of a joyful sunrise. The piece shows the beauty of the Himalayas and the possibilities of a new day.

This is the twenty-fourth in the Darjeeling Art Collectors’ Series.

Caffeine:
This first flush Darjeeling tea has less than half the amount of caffeine per cup than in a similar-sized cup of coffee. More about caffeine.

Steeping Instructions:
Fill your kettle with fresh, filtered water and heat to just short of boiling (195° F). Warm your teapot by swirling steamy water in it and then pour it out. Place one teaspoon of tea leaves per 6 oz of water into your pot or infusing basket. Pour the heated water over the tea leaves and infuse for 2-3 minutes. Serve the tea. Avoid letting the leaves stew. Enjoy, Sip by Sip®. Add the used tea leaves to your garden. They make a healthy fertilizer for plants.
